Monday night 8 p.m.-9 p.m. on Gtown Radio 12-08: I (Charing Ball) speaks with Sean Hetherington, co-organizer of one of the Day Without A Gay protest, which will be happening on Wednesday, December 10, 2008( http://daywithoutagay.wetpaint.com). All across the country, the gay community, and supporters of gay rights, will take a historic stance against hatred by taking a day off from work and donating their time to a variety of different causes in order to raise public awareness of the need for LGBT equality. Hetherington, who along with his partner lives in West Hollywood, will discuss Prop. 8, whether or not a gay boycott will be successful and why we all, gay or otherwise, should be concerned about gay rights in America. Bush, who is also the editor of Jewish Currents, a 64-year-old Secular Jewish bi-monthly magazine, will shows the pros and cons of atheism and religion, and how many different elements of science, society and culture in the 1960s and 1970s has impacted baby boomer's feelings about religion later in their lives.

Monday night 8 p.m.-9 p.m. on Gtown Radio I (Charing Ball) gets up close and personal with Lori Tharps, who is best known for penning Hair Stories: Untangling the Roots of Black Hair in America and is one of the feature memoirist in this year's First Person Festival, running Nov. 11-16 here in Philadelphia. Tharps will discuss her recent memoir, Kinky Gazpacho: Life, Love & Spain, which is an exploration of the complexities of interracial romance, one she found while living in Spain and investigating that country's slave heritage. Also, we'll say a temporary goodbye to one of her own as Jalessa Mungin hangs up the mic to focus more on her studies (boo:) Plus, some news that might have flown under your radar, what books I feel should be on everybody's reading list, and commentary on the REAL historical significance of this election. Democrats to Republican; Republican to Libertarian, Independent to Democrat - some people change their party affliation like people change clothes. Some have been loyal to their parties since birth. And others are looking for the perfect candidate beyond the two-party system. Hear what makes a person a voter and what they feel about the importance of voting in general. People Places & Things will explore the reasons why we vote and highlights the faces behind the ballots, which will be cast during the 2008 presidential election. This three-hour long audio documentary, which has been made possible through an Art and Social Change grant from the Leeway Foundation, is the first time PP&T has covered any issues with so much depth.
