The Sound From Germantown

Fewsh

Fewsh is a varietal music program. The only thing that distinguishes it from its nearly countless contemporaries is the simple fact that it is not one of its nearly countless contemporaries. This is not to say that Fewsh is unprecedented in any way, shape, or form. It is actually intended to point out quite the reverse! Fewsh is much like a single hotel room in a vast hotel. Though room C23 might be identical to every other room in a given hotel, it is individual by virtue of the fact that it is no other room than C23. However, it should be stated that Fewsh aims to provide a slightly different aesthetic approach, thereby justifying its existence.

Reade McCardell is the host of Fewsh (or maybe Fewsh is the host of Reade McCardell, it's anyone's guess). He's a pale fellow with a sizable affection for music. He knows you like music too, and hopes you can find some satisfaction in the material he plays.

Sadly, there will be no FEWSH tonight due to difficulties of the technical variety. This is especially saddening as there will be no FEWSH next week either (I'll be vacationing with my family and friends in West Virginia). Sorry loyal listeners, I had glorious music planned for this evening but fate had other plans. I'll join you in two weeks for more eclecticity.

- Yours Miserably, Reade McCardell

Selections from the gloriously rowdy Killed By Death early punk compilations, some highly controversial opera (at least for its time), something from the excruciating archives of Pigface, and so much more!!

It went like this: my extraordinary Aunt Rachel had a splendid brainstorm on the subject of 'corn', sent it to me (in the form of a word document - we're not telepathic), I read it on the air and played a set of songs that were in some way related to corn. Case in point: existence is extremely worthwhile (especially if you consider that I also played tracks from a lovely Wildcats cassette and Prince's new album)!

We burrowed through dense musical substrate this evening and discovered some intriguing artifacts including Modern Skirts, Urinals, and a good bit of The Acorn.

Were I forced at gunpoint to describe this particular episode using just six words I'd probably choose "taped motor drive amplifier organ chord". This is due to the fact that Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells Part One (in all its undulating glory) was played in the second half of tonight's show. It was a pleasure-filled evening.

Exhaustingly good music! Including a couple of Chatham County Line tunes recorded live in a living room (Kurt and Jenn Asplundh's) only three hops, two skips and a jump from Germantown!

Some aspects of this particular program were so pleasant they would cause even a suicidal Philippine tarsier to consider giving life another chance (of course this would necessitate the tarsier being familiar with English and fond of music). Fine muenster cheese was eaten by your host, two projects involving Simon Thornton were peered into, tracks from the new Red Hot Organization compilation were spun, fun was had!
