Gentrification, Gangsters, and Stop-N-Gos Print E-mail
This Monday, from 8 - 9 p.m., the PP&T family welcomes Zakiyyah Abdul Raheem, executive director of East Mt. Airy Neighbors and Leon Robinson Jr., community organizer of the Wister Neighborhood Advisory Council.  Both will update us on their own efforts to shut-down nusiance businesses such as stop-n-gos, as well as address the growing foreclosure rate here in the Northwest.

Zakiyyah Abdul Raheem, who is also a former president of EMAN, will discuss why East Mt. Airy has the highest number of properties being foreclosured upon in the entire city of Philadelphia and, more importantly, what the neighborhood organization plans to do about it.

Leon Robinson, who is best known for his work in eliminating nusiance stop-n-gos in the Wister section of Germantown, will offer us advice about strategizes every community should do to close these crime magnets down once and for all.

Plus PP&T Host Charing Ball will update listeners about the city's plans to sue delinquent taxpayers and whether or not any of the biggest tax-evaders made the list.  Co-Host Ameena "The Diva" Thompson will discuss the "American Gangster" effect and Music Master Lamar "C.O.R.E" Akins will spin some of his favorite gems from our personal collection.
