Message from G-Town Station Manager

Four and a half years ago, we launched our FM frequency and became stewards of a public space that’s not for a person or one group’s purpose, but rather a place for everyone’s benefit The work to get us on 92.9fm started years before and required a lot of time, sweat, equity, and patience and we overcame many obstacles and succeeded against the odds.

During the past four years, we have been able to not only maintain the frequency but also flourish. We’ve done this during a challenging time, requiring us to quickly pivot and change how we do things as we navigate COVID and other disruptions. Our efforts are reaffirmed each year with more and more listeners tuning in and offering their support as fund drives surpass their goals. Major foundations have acknowledged the content we create, have seen the value of what we can do in terms of radio programming, and have given us grants to enhance our efforts.

We have been able to sustain a platform where people of all ages can come together, share ideas, information and passions creatively and keep this public space free and in the hands of the people. G-Town Radio/WGGT is unique and stations like ours are special for not only the content they can produce but the reward that involvement brings by being part of a community radio project.

92.9 Day Festival

The 92.9 Day Festival Celebrates 5 years of Germantown Community Broadcasting and the Renewal of our FCC License. WOW!!!! I can hardly believe it. What started in 2007 in the basement of Jim Bear’s Germantown home on the internet has grown leaps and bounds by obtaining a much sought-after FCC LP FM License in 2018. LP stands for Low Power but we prefer Locally Produced. That’s what we do! We create Locally Produced radio content for you. BUT… none of this would be possible without YOU our supporters, our listeners, and our believers in this crazy project.

The 92.9 Day Festival is G-Town Radio’s way of giving back and saying, “Thanks!” So please stop by the studio at Maplewood Mall on Saturday September 24th noon til 6pm. Be a DJ and play your favorite song live on the air, enjoy Live Music, Circus Performances, Bike Parade, vendors, resource tables and so much more. Radiosarous will be there… will you? It won’t be a celebration without you.
