Flooding is a serious problem that is made worse by climate change. In this show we explore some of the concerns about flooding in two local areas that illustrate flooding problems for the rest of the country.

  • Josh Lippert is a certified floodplain manager, a trained landscape architect, and environmental planner. He is the former floodplain manager for Philadelphia. He will talk about flooding in neighborhoods, including the increased risks of flooding due to climate change. He also will talk about some problematic high priced developments now proposed or underway in Philadelphia that may be at risk of flooding, and how to address the risks.
  • Jordan Gass-Pooré is an investigative journalist. She is the creator, producer, and host of “Hazard NJ,” a limited-series podcast about the impacts of climate change on hazardous Superfund sites in New Jersey. This podcast is a production of NJ Spotlight News, the news division of NJ PBS. She will talk about the danger of flooding on superfund sites in New Jersey and the increased risks of toxins being spread over wider areas in extreme weather events.
