A Message from the President of the Board

Dear friends, volunteers, and supporters of Germantown Community Radio,

As we navigate the tumultuous landscape of 2024, the very essence of democracy in the United States faces unprecedented challenges. Yet, amidst the uncertainty, recent developments in Germantown and Northwest Philadelphia reflect a resolute spirit. Our community stands united, confronting challenges with unwavering strength. Germantown Community Radio remains the indispensable vehicle to amplify these voices of resistance, solidarity, and determination. In the face of threats to democracy, our collective power shines brightest. Let us continue to use G-Town Radio as a beacon, ensuring that the voices of our community resonate louder than ever, steering us towards a future where democracy prevails.

Join us as a volunteer, supporter, or contributor. We have room for everyone.

Pedro A. Rodriguez
Germantown Community Radio Board President

Station Manager Tom Casetta Shares G-Town Radio 2023 Highlights

In late 2006, 17 years ago, G-Town Radio originated as an internet radio station. Over the years G-Town Radio continued to evolve and was granted a license from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to broadcast. Five years ago, on January 14, 2018, we began broadcasting as WGGT-LP on 92.9FM. G-Town Radio currently host approximately 30 shows a week. Content ranges from local arts and cultural news, civic and environmental reporting, pet care, and discussions and stories from and by our neighbors. Music programming includes classic soul, reggae, rock, local music, club music and an assortment of sounds not found easily elsewhere.

Highlights from 2023 include
92.9 Day Community of Joy Festival
8th District City Council Debate
Six New Progams Added To The Schedule
Four New Board Members
Studio Open House
Reimagining Safety Film Screening and Panel Discussion
G-Town Radio Community Clean Up

We look forward to more in 2024! It is our belief that a strong community is one that offers a platform for neighbors, community members and listeners to share news, their passions and generate discussion on topics that impact our neighborhood, our city and the world. On this anniversary of our 6th year of broadcasting over the airwaves, we thank you for your ongoing support.

G-Town Radio at Reimaging Safety Screening & Panel Discussion

This past November Nigel Ousey, a fifteen-year-old aspiring activist and host of G-Town Radio’s Big Questions, presented a screening of the award-winning Matthew Solomon documentary film, Reimaging Safety at The Fallser Club in East Falls.  The film (shot on iPhone), shares the voices of ten experts who discuss how policing and incarceration create more harm than good, why the system persists, and what changes can be made to make everyone safe.

New G-Town Radio board member and community organizer Seth Anderson-Oberman moderated a panel discussion that included the filmmaker, experts from the documentary, and local community activists.

Thanks to Nigel, The Fallser Club, Seth, and G-Town Radio Station Manager Tom Casetta for your invaluable work to shed light on this critical issue.
