LIVING BLACK HISTORY WINS AWARD
Living Black History, a program produced at Neumann University and aired on G-Town Radio won a first-place Student Keystone Award from the Pennsylvania News Media Association for Best Podcast.The program is made by students in a course taught by G-Town Radio board member and radio host Janis Chakars. It is produced live on the university station, WNUW, before being posted as a podcast with the student newspaper, NeuPress, and rebroadcast by WGGT.The program has also won awards from the College Media Association, Catholic Media Association, and the Pittsburgh Black Media Federation. During Black History Month, it aired every Thursday on G-Town Radio with the final episode featuring Germantown resident and founder of the Atlanta chapter of the Black Panther Party, Timothy Hayes.Janis Chakars hosts Items of Interest, which airs on the first Friday of every month at 5pm on G-Town Radio 92.9 FM and online at gtownradio.com.
