EDUCATION EQUITY SUMMIT TO TACKLE URGENT CHALLENGES FACING PHILLY SCHOOLS
Note: Event took place on Saturday, October 25, 2025 and and will air in two parts on November 6th and November 14th at 6pm
WHAT: An Educational Equity Summit will bring together Philly educators, policymakers, and community leaders to examine challenges facing public schools, including aging infrastructure and teacher shortages, and to highlight bold, actionable solutions.
WHO: Breakthrough of Greater Philadelphia and leading education advocates and policymakers including:

Councilmember Isaiah Thomas (Chair, Education Committee)
Michelle Palmer (Breakthrough of Greater Philadelphia)
Ansharaye Hines (Center for Black Educator Development)
Dr. Stephen Brady (Former Deputy Chief of K-8 Instruction, School District of Philadelphia)
Dawn Chavous (Education Advocate)
WHY: To surface 3–5 actionable steps city and school leaders can take this semester on attendance, facilities, teacher pipeline, and student safety grounded in legal, policy, and classroom realities.
