Background
Biofuels recently have been talked about as transitional fuels (as has natural gas, and liquified natural gas) to lower greenhouse gas emissions. Currently the EPA is considering regulations to expand biofuel use. What are the implications?

Tyler Lobdell focuses on food and agriculture and its relationship to fuels and energy environmental issues at Food and Water Watch, a nonprofit environmental organization. He will be discussing biofuels and the concerns about using more of these types of energy sources in light of the EPA’s current proposals.
In addition, we bring you news and updates on two local environmental projects.

Lisa Hastings and Lynn Robinson live in Philadelphia and have been environmental activists on behalf of the residents there for many years. Lynn is the Director of Neighbors Against the Gas Plants. Lisa is a scientist by training and a life-long environmental advocate. They will be discussing SEPTA’s (Philadelphia’s public transportation provider) request to renew the permit for their natural gas plant in Nicetown and the effects of this plant on this environmental justice community.

​Sarah Bouboulis 
is the Habitat Project Manager for the Partnership for the Delaware Estuary. She will be talking about how oyster shells are being used in the Delaware Valley to provide habitat and clean the water. This is a project that involves collaboration between the Delaware Partnership and the Philadelphia Water Department.
