Historian Dr. Maria Esther Hammock

I will be speaking with Dr. Maria Esther Hammock, who received her doctorate in American history. Her focus is on slavery and abolition transnationally. Dr. Hammock is Mexican, with a unique personal story, She questions what makes people uproot and move to places. What made the African slaves in the United States move south…to Mexico? She has spent time retracing the lives of Africans who did just this and the impact of these movements on the culture of Mexico.
