John Hall, assistant professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.  Before doing academic work, he held senior-level positions in design, manufacturing, maintenance, and reliability engineering and is a licensed engineer. His research concentrates on design methodologies and novel control techniques that promote sustainable systems. He worked to create innovative design methods promoting the productivity and longevity of wind turbines; Dr. Hall’s patent resulted in a startup company that develops adaptive blade software and technology.  He will talk about the way various wind energy systems work, the latest kinds of wind power designs, and the appropriateness of various designs/equipment for different situations.
